Glamping (well, not really, but sort of, in a way...in the best way) | {The Serenity Project}

One would definitely not consider tent camping, "glamping" in any way, shape or form. Most seasoned campers would likely have a good laugh at our expense, but that wouldn't bother us a bit! Our modest little tent and sleeping bags are all we need to enjoy the great outdoors here in Alaska. Sure, a camper with a real bed and 'facilities' would be kind of nice (especially on those rainy nights that inevitably happen), but the real reason to even be out there in the first place, as you can imagine, is to be a part of this amazing scenery and landscape. There is nothing like getting out - being completely surrounded and engulfed by the beauty. Everything else just goes away for that moment in time. The enormity of the mountains, the blue of the water and the sky, the shrill call of the eagle...nothing else compares. To float silently on the river and just take it all in. By definition, among a few other things, glamorous means: fantastic, marvelous and romantic...so yeah, I'd say we were "glamping", BIG TIME!

That evening, after we returned home and got all unpacked, we were treated to quite a lovely display at sunset (which this time of year is after 11:00 p.m.)

The Serenity Project is a collaborative photography project featuring words and images from several amazing artists that in some way, bring them encouragement or a sense of peace and calm and it is our hope that the feeling is conveyed and passed on to you. Please continue the circle by going to Iris Nelson, Metro Phoenix Photographer to find out what she has to share this month.

What a fun little trip! I love how you captured the beauty that is only found there! One of my favorite memories of AK was taking the boat from Homer across the bay to a little island and camping for 2 days. It was secluded and so much fun to explore our little private island! (Though it was fairly large...) I love tent camping, though I definitely prefer the trailer kind! ;)

What an amazing location and stunning views Amy! So beautifully captured and that sunset is incredible! I agree, that's my definition of glamping. :-) We haven't been camping since we had our daughter but now she's starting asking to go, so we must start looking for a bigger tent! I imagine your camping though is a lot more remote than ours - in France, you're not allowed to 'wild camp', you have to be in a campsite! Do you have to worry about critters and bears when you go camping?

I'm glad you had a great time Amy and thanks for sharing these with us!

Amy, Alaska looks stunning. The lakes and !mountains are spectacular. Hubby has a thing for Alaska and is actually watching a TV programme re: life in Alaska as I'm typing this!

I could seriously go camping at this time. To be out in the countryside amidst all that beauty and sleeping under the stars would be quite something. Mind, I like my hairdryer and without it my hair would scare the wildlife! Come to think of it, life without my hairdresser has been scary for the backyard wildlife! 😆

Will seriously be soon glad when things like hairdressers, etc get back to normal. I think the non essential shops are opening here in Scotland soon and I'm hoping the jo…

Alaska looks so beautiful. Maybe one day I will be able to visit that gorgeous state. Wow, 11pm sunset - that is crazy. I am sure you are used to that by now. Thank you for sharing beautiful images from your state.
